May Newsletter & Sale
Hello Quilting Friends!!
This month we celebrate and remember our mothers everywhere. I remember, too, Mother’s Day is not always a happy day for many. Some of our mothers are no longer with us, some have distant relationships either physically, emotionally or mentally. I remember those who have mothered us--stepmoms, grandmothers, great grandmothers, sisters, aunts, cousins, female friends…if you are a woman, this is your day. We have all shared “mothering moments” with another when they needed our care. The movie “Steel Magnolias” reminds me of the sacrifice, strength, resilience, inspiration and love we share everyday with each other and the world around us to make our homes and communities a better place. Happy Mother’s Day!!

TODAY’S TIPS, TRICKS & TECHNIQUES-Organizing Quilting Notions
Let’s face it, there is no limit to the number of notions we need….uh, buy. If you are like me, I have every possible size of ruler and at least 4 sizes of rotary cutters. Not sure I need all of them, but they have multiplied over the years. Or, how about marking devices—chalk, invisible markers, pencils, erasable pens, and so on. And too often, I’m wasting precious time searching for that one I know I have, but can’t find it!!!
Springcleaning time is the perfect time to rethink your sewing/quilting room. And you don’t need to break the bank doing it. Here are some great ideas to organize your tools of the trade on the cheap.
1. Peg boards at your local Home Depot are fantastic organizing tools!
2. Walmart & local office supply stores have desk organizers that I use on my sewing table.
3. Joann’s with their Going-Out-of-Business sales have tons of Sterilite plastic organizing bins at 40 & 50% off that I use for UFO projects.
4. Hobby Lobby & Target have great wire and woven baskets.
5. Book shelves--hanging on the wall or standing if you have the space, are great for things you need to see at a glance.
6. Consider repurposing small dressers from Good Will or antique shops to store items and label the front of the drawer so you can go immediately to the tool you need.
Happy Quilting
