118” Wide Fabrics—Many of you have said there just aren’t enough wider fabrics. While 108” wide will back a smaller King-sized quilt, if you want the drop on the sides and bottom of the bed to be longer than a typical quilt (one that just covers the mattress & boxsprings), then this width is for you!! The good news is, more manufacturers are jumping on the bandwagon and providing more varied prints and colors from which to choose. We have lots of new 118” wide fabrics in stock, and more are on the way in late Spring, early Summer so be sure to check back frequently.

TODAY’S TIPS, TRICKS & TECHNIQUES
Beautiful Machine Applique—3 Methods
Many of us love the look of applique quilts; partly because we know how many hours it takes to hand-applique. And, we marvel at the patience required, precision and beauty of these pieces. If you too would like to create beautiful applique quilts, towels, pillows, handbags and so many other home décor items, you may love these machine applique methods as an alternative.
1. RAW EDGE APPLIQUE—As it is named, this applique method doesn’t require turning the edge. The raw edge of your shape remains unfinished and provides a more casual, rustic appearance. It simply uses two-sided fusible adhesive to iron on the applique shape to the background fabric. For a step-by-step guide, see It’s All in The Stitch’s Learn the Quick Raw Edge Method
2. TURNED EDGE APPLIQUE—This method provides a more finished look as the raw edge is turned to the back and the applique shape’s edge is finished with a machine blanket stitch or a blind hem stitch, depending on the look you want to achieve. This method uses a one-side fusible stabilizer. For a step-by-step guide, see Magic Little Dream’s Learn the Turned Edge Method
3. FREEZER PAPER APPLIQUE—This method has been around longer than the first two and is popular because most of us have freezer paper on hand! You can use this method for either hand or machine stitching. When you press the fabric’s raw edge to the freezer paper, it temporarily adheres while you position your shape on the background fabric. You may choose to remove or leave the freezer paper in place. For a step-by-step guide, see American Patchwork and Quilting’s Learn Freezer Paper Appliqué
